West Palm Beach, FL- On Saturday, March 5th, the USCB Sand Sharks split a double-header with the Northwood University Seahawks in Sun Conference play. In the first game USCB picked up where the left off the day before in winning 3-0.
Dexter Price, Jr., Colorado Springs, CO, picked up the win for the game going seven innings, striking out five, and limiting the Seahawks to two hits. Price is now 3-1 on the season, and 2-1 in Sun Conference play.
Andrew Barrineau, Jr., Varnville, SC, picked up the save on the day, his first of the season, in pitching the last two innings. At the plate DeShontay Berry, Jr., Lithonia, GA, led the team going 2-for-3 with a walk.
In the second game Northwood University took the win 4-1 to keep from being swept by the Sand Sharks.
Michael Heesch, Jr., Chicago, IL, got the start on the mound and through eight innings. With the loss Heesch falls to 3-1 on the season, and 2-1 in conference. The Sand Sharks offense was kept off-balance throughout the game as Jovy Castaneda threw the complete game for Northwood University. Spencer Jackson, Sr., Springfield, GA, and
David O'Neil each went 2-for-4 on the day to lead USCB.
The Sand Sharks are now 14-6 on the season, and 5-4 in the Sun Conference. On Tuesday USCB will play at home verse Claflin University in non-conference action. First pitch is set for 4:00 pm at Richard Gray Baseball Stadium in Hardeeville, SC. The game will be aired live at
