The University of South Carolina Beaufort baseball team begins a four-day, four-game series against Mid-Continent (Ky.) at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Richard Gray Sports Complex in Hardeeville. 

The Sand Sharks (1-1) are looking for their first home win of the season after losing the home opener 4-2 to Brewton-Parker on Saturday. USCB split the home-and-home series with the Barons, winning 2-0 behind a four-hit shutout Friday night.

Junior right-hander Miles Galvin is slated to make his first start for the Sand Sharks. The transfer from Curry College pitched a scoreless ninth inning Saturday in his USCB debut, striking out two. 

Mid-Continent opened its season at SCAD Savannah over the weekend, dropping all four games against the Bees. 

Hardeeville Mayor Bronco Bostick will throw out the first pitch before the opening game of the series.
