Sand Sharks Rally For Eighth Straight Home Win

Sophomore Erik Armstrong had a big day Monday with four hits, including three doubles to tie a single-game school record

HARDEEVILLE, S.C. — The University of South Carolina Beaufort baseball team rallied late to beat Fisher College 9-6 on Monday, the Sand Sharks' fourth consecutive win overall and their eighth in a row at Richard Gray Sports Complex.

Sophomore Erik Armstrong had another monster day at the plate with four hits — three of them doubles, which ties a single-game school record — and two RBIs. Armstrong raised his average to .486 and has nine doubles and 15 RBIs, both team-high totals.

The Sand Sharks (9-2) broke open a tied game with three runs in the seventh, as Dylan Nasiatka and R.J. Neal drew bases-loaded walks and Conald Mansfield plated another run with a groundout.

USCB added two more in the eighth on Nasiatka's two-run single.

Leadoff man Ty Main drew four walks — also tying a single-game school record — and scored three runs. Armstrong and David O'Neil also scored three runs apiece.

The late rally made a winner of sophomore left-hander Alex Graham (3-1), who allowed one hit and one unearned run in two innings of relief. Graham has allowed one earned run and four hits in 12 2-3 innings this season.

The teams play a doubleheader at 11 a.m. Tuesday. Left-hander Adam Miller is expected to start Game 1 for USCB with right-hander Kyle McCullough starting the second game.
