Adam Miller pitched a complete game to lead the University of South Carolina Beaufort to a 9-4 win Friday over Asbury (Ky.) in the first elimination game of the NAIA Baseball National Championship Opening Round at Richard Gray Sports Complex.
Main staked Miller to an early lead with a three-run blast to left field in the first, moving into a share of the team lead with his fourth home run.
Nasiatka added his first homer as a Sand Shark in the sixth, pulling a deep shot down the left-field line against reliever Logan Howard.
Senior R.J. Neal continued his hot hitting for the Sand Sharks (36-17), going 2-for-4 and scoring three runs.
Miller (9-5) effectively worked out of jams all day, scattering nine hits and one walk and deftly working around three USCB errors. He struck out nine.
Tyler Weaver and Danny Olszowy had two hits apiece for the Eagles (18-39), whose remarkable postseason run came to an end.
Left-hander Brad Williams (2-8) took the loss for Asbury, allowing seven runs on seven hits in 5 2-3 innings.
The Sand Sharks advance to face top seed Faulkner (Ala.) in another elimination game at 6 p.m. Friday.
