LEWISTON, Idaho — Whether it's the "can't lose camo" jerseys or the pressure of playing with the season on the line, the University of South Carolina Beaufort baseball team kept up its remarkable postseason run by winning its sixth straight elimination game, 7-2 over Sun Conference rival Embry-Riddle on Saturday at Harris Field to stay alive in the Avista-NAIA World Series.

After losing their first game in the NAIA Opening Round at home May 10, the Sand Sharks won five straight elimination games to advance to the NAIA World Series for the first time. After losing their opening game in Lewiston on Friday, the Sand Sharks again performed well with their backs against the wall.

The Sand Sharks (41-18) got a strong performance from senior left-hander Adam Miller, who allowed two runs (one earned) on 10 hits over eight innings. Miller (10-5) struck out four and walked two before giving way to left-hander Colton Rudd, who worked a perfect ninth.

USCB staked Miller to a three-run lead in the first, taking advantage of three Embry-Riddle errors. Conald Mansfield delivered a two-run single for the biggest blow in the inning.

The Eagles uncharacteristically made five errors, leading to five unearned runs against starter Daniel Eaton (7-6), who struck out seven and allowed eight hits.

Mansfield and Brandon Collins each had two hits for the Sand Sharks, and David O'Neil drove in two runs.

USCB won the season series with the Eagles, winning three of five meetings. The Sand Sharks advance to play at 9 a.m. PDT Monday against the loser of Saturday's game between No. 2 seed Lee (Tenn.) and No. 7 seed Point Park (Pa.).
