DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. — The University of South Carolina Beaufort baseball team couldn't muster enough offense Saturday to salvage a win from their three-game Sun Conference series at No. 3 Embry-Riddle. 

The Eagles, who won the opening game of the series 5-2 on Friday, beat the Sand Sharks 4-0 and 3-1 on Saturday as USCB (4-4, 2-4 TSC) managed only three hits in the doubleheader. 

The first game of the day was a pitchers' duel between Embry-Riddle All-American Stetson Nelson and USCB right-hander Junior Delatorre, who matched zeroes with Nelson for seven innings. Delatorre struck out seven and limited the Eagles to five hits, but he needed 105 pitches to get through seven scoreless frames and USCB had to go to the bullpen. 

Embry-Riddle (5-5, 5-1) pushed across four runs in the eighth against Christian Pfaff (1-1), with Liam Goodall delivering the biggest blow with a two-run single. Nelson (2-0) allowed only two hits and struck out six over 8 2/3 innings and Ronnie Lozada recorded the final out for his first save. 

Blake Cilwick and Erik Armstrong had USCB's two hits in the first game, and Ashly Morris had the Sand Sharks' only hit in the finale. 

USCB was dealt some tough luck in the final game, as starting pitcher Shane Murli had to leave with an injury with one out in the third and the Eagles scored three runs in the inning after Hunter Englehart (0-1) took over on the mound. 

Senior Stephen Richards came on to get out of a jam in the third and held the Eagles scoreless for 5 1/3 innings, but the Sand Sharks couldn't muster a rally. They pushed one across in the seventh but left two men on and didn't manage a baserunner in the final two innings. 

Corey Tufts (1-2) allowed one run on on hit over six innings for the win and Clayton Wagner pitched three hitless innings for the save. 

USCB is back in action Tuesday, hosting Benedict College for a non-conference doubleheader at 1 p.m. at Richard Gray Sports Complex.
