Sand Sharks' Bats Keep Ringing In 12-4 Win Over WIU

Box Score

HARDEEVILLE — The University of South Carolina Beaufort baseball team continued its hot hitting Sunday, pounding visiting Webber International 12-4 in the finale of a three-game Sun Conference series at Richard Gray Sports Complex.

Senior Blake Cilwick kept up his hot hitting with two hits and two RBIs and senior Jon Andrews went 1-for-2 with three RBIs to lead another strong offensive performance. Junior Ashly Morris went 2-for-5 with an RBI and sophomore Alex Bonilla added a two-run single for the Sand Sharks (4-1, 2-1 TSC), who lost the series opener but bounced back to win the final two games by a combined 20 runs.

The run support helped junior Christian Pfaff (1-0) win his first start in a USCB uniform, as the right-hander allowed two runs on five hits over five solid innings. Hunter Englehart allowed two unearned runs in the sixth, Shane Murli pitched two perfect innings and Jason Boulais shut out the Warriors in the ninth.

The Warriors (4-5, 1-2) pushed across two runs with two outs in the first, but USCB bounced back with five in the bottom of the inning with Bonilla's two-run single capping the big inning. The Sand Sharks tacked on three more in the second on Andrews' two-run single and Matt Kianka's RBI single.

Cilwick's two-run double and Andrews' bases-loaded walk accounted for three more runs in the fifth, and Morris added an RBI single in the eighth for USCB.

The Sand Sharks are back home Tuesday for a non-conference doubleheader with Voorhees starting at noon. USCB travels to Daytona Beach, Fla., next weekend for a three-game Sun Conference series against league favorite Embry-Riddle.
