The University of South Carolina Beaufort baseball team looks to continue its strong play at home and extend its winning streak in Sun Conference play when the Sand Sharks host Thomas (Ga.) for a key three-game series Friday and Saturday at Richard Gray Sports Complex. The Sand Sharks swept Florida Memorial in a three-game conference series last weekend, moving above .500 overall and in league play and improving to 10-2 at home this season. The Night Hawks are looking to bounce back after being swept in a three-game series at conference front-runner Embry-Riddle (Fla.) last weekend.

SCOUTING THOMAS

The Night Hawks have faced a challenging schedule thus far, with seven of their 12 losses coming against top-25 teams including three-game sweeps against No. 1 Faulkner (Ala.) and No. 3 Embry-Riddle. They split a doubleheader with No. 17 Southern Poly (Ga.) and swept three games from No. 25 Ave Maria (Fla.). Thomas is fairly balanced, boasting a .290 team batting average, a 3.33 ERA and a .953 fielding percentage.

• USCB's pitching staff ranks 31st in the nation in opponents' batting average (.240). Junior RHP Junior Delatorre has led the pitching staff, boasting a 3-1 record and a 1.62 ERA with 25 strikeouts in 39 innings.

• USCB's outfielders have not made an error in 169 chances this season. Overall, the Sand Sharks boast a .960 fielding percentage — 47th in the NAIA — with just 30 errors in 22 games. 

• Sophomore OF JJ Crespo has gone 17-for-48 (.354) over the past 13 games, raising his batting average to a team-best .338. 

• Sophomore 3B Brandon Joyce has reached base in 10 straight games, the longest active streak on the team. Joyce is 12-for-21 (.571) during the streak.
