#SandSharkBaseball Drops Series Finale vs. Southeastern

Box Score

HARDEEVILLE — The University of South Carolina Beaufort baseball team suffered a 12-1 loss to visiting Southeastern (Fla.) in the finale of a three-game Sun Conference series Saturday at Richard Gray Sports Complex.

The Sand Sharks (13-15, 6-9 TSC) racked up 11 hits — one fewer than the Fire — but USCB pitchers issued eight walks and hit four batters and the Sand Sharks left nine runners on base.

After Aldo Ferrante's RBI single put the Fire (28-10, 11-4 TSC) on top in the first, the Sand Sharks answered in the bottom of the inning to tie it on Blake Cilwick's RBI single. It was all Southeastern from that point on, though, as the Fire plated three runs in the second, two in the fourth and six in the fifth to break it open.

Southeastern starter Andres Cancio (6-0) scattered nine hits over six innings, holding USCB to one run to earn the win. USCB starting pitcher Hunter Englehart (2-5) was tagged with the loss, allowing four runs — two earned — on three hits in 1 2/3 innings.

Ashly Morris, Brandon Joyce and Korey Ahrens each had two hits for USCB. Ricky DeArmas and Ryne Knuth had three hits apiece for Southeastern while T.J. Glessner added two hits and three RBIs.

The Sand Sharks hit the road Tuesday for a single game Brewton-Parker (Ga.) at 1 p.m. USCB travels to St. Thomas (Fla.) next weekend for a three-game Sun Conference series.
