LAKE WALES, Fla. — The University of South Carolina Beaufort baseball team dropped the opener of its final regular-season series of 2014 on Friday, falling 8-1 at Warner.
The Sand Sharks, who need to win two out of three in the series to maintain their hopes of qualifying for the six-team Sun Conference Tournament, trailed 4-2 in the second game when it was suspended in the top of the seventh inning because of inclement weather. The suspended game will be completed at 11:30 a.m. Saturday with the finale to follow.
Warner ace Aaron Kehres tossed a complete game in the opener, holding the Sand Sharks (19-22, 9-16 TSC) to one run on five hits. USCB starter Junior Delatorre (6-2) took the loss, giving up eight runs — seven earned — on 12 hits over six frames.
JJ Crespo, Matt Kianka, Blake Cilwick, Ryan Walker and Korey Ahrens each had one hit for USCB.
