The University of South Carolina Beaufort baseball team opens the 2015 campaign this weekend with a four-game series against the University of Northwestern Ohio. The teams will play doubleheaders starting at 11 a.m. on Saturday and Sunday at the Richard Gray Sports Complex in Hardeeville.Â
It's also the season opener for the Racers, who made the trip from Lima, Ohio, to face the Sand Sharks for the first time. USCB is 118-52 all-time at home and 8-1 all-time on opening day.Â

SCOUTING UNOH
The Racers are entering their fifth season of competition and have enjoyed great success under coach Kory Hartman, compiling a 105-90 record in their first four seasons. UNOH returns several top hitters from last year's 34-16 squad, including OF/INF Jose Cruz (.333, 4 HR, 39 RBIs), INF Brandon Collins (.317, 44 RBIs), OF Brett Akins (.312, 18 RBIs) and INF Alex Leach (.299, 30 RBIs, 29 SBs). The Racers also return their top two starting pitchers from last season in RHP Ruben Medina (4-2, 3.21 ERA) and LHP Brodie Mitchell (7-3, 3.56).Â

• Senior SS Ashly Morris has 91 career hits and 60 career runs and needs three of each to move into the top 10 on USCB's all-time list for each category.Â
• Morris has been hit by a pitch 11 times, eighth-most in USCB history. He is one behind Spencer Jackson and two behind Jeremy Webb. Morris also ranks second all-time at USCB with 18 sacrifice bunts.
• Senior RHP Junior Delatorre, the scheduled starter for Game 1, is fourth in USCB history with a 3.12 career ERA, fifth in wins (10) and fourth in strikeouts (111).Â
• Junior RHP Jamie Strock, the scheduled starter for Game 2, will make his USCB debut. he was 3-3 with a 2.48 ERA and 19 strikeouts in 29 innings last season for USC Sumter.Â
• USCB head coach Bryan Lewallyn enters his fourth season leading the Sand Sharks with an 87-68 overall record and needs 15 wins to surpass Rick Sofield as the program's career leader.Â
• USCB has faced only one previous opponent from the state of Ohio, going 4-3 against Shawnee State.Â
