The University of South Carolina Beaufort baseball team begins the 2016 campaign Saturday with a doubleheader at Trinity Baptist College in Jacksonville, Fla. It's the first time the Sand Sharks will open the season on the road since 2011. USCB has swept its opening doubleheaders each of the past two seasons and is 9-1 all-time on opening day.

• USCB is entering its eighth season of baseball and boasts an all-time record of 221-146 for a winning percentage of .602. The Sand Sharks have qualified for the NAIA National Championship Opening Round three times and reached the NAIA World Series in 2012.
• Coach Bryan Lewallyn is entering his fifth season as USCB's head coach and has a career record of 120-89. Lewallyn became USCB's second head coach prior to the 2012 season and last year surpassed former coach Rick Sofield (101-57) as the program's wins leader.
• Senior RHP Jamie Strock and junior RHP Julio De Pena are expected to be USCB's starting pitchers in the doubleheader. Strock, who was 6-5 with a 3.67 ERA in 14 starts last season, is slated to start Game 1, while De Pena, a transfer from Pensacola State College, will get the ball in Game 2.

• Junior 3B Brandon Joyce begins the season with 83 hits, good for 15th on USCB's all-time list. Joyce needs 17 hits to become the 11th player in program history to collect 100 hits.
• Joyce has drawn 50 career walks, tied for third on USCB's all-time list behind RJ Neal (67) and Erik Armstrong (62).
• Senior OF Matt Kianka has been hit by a pitch 10 times in his USCB career, which ranks 10th on the career list.
• Joyce and senior OF John Cloyd each have 11 sacrifice bunts in their USCB careers, tied for sixth on the all-time list.
• Senior RHP Blake Drew set USCB's single-season saves record last year with eight and ranks second on the career list behind Kyle McCullough (11). Drew also ranks 10th on the all-time list with eight wins.
• Senior RHP Jamie Strock had five complete games last year in his first season at USCB and ranks fourth on the all-time list. Michael Heesch and Junior Delatorre are tied for second with six.
