Bluffton, SC-- Over 700 runners from 40+ schools will descend upon the Hardeeville School Complex and the Cooler property tomorrow morning to take take part in the 12th annual Sand Shark XC Invitational. The first Sand Shark XC Invitational was held on October 6, 2007 on the Bluffton Campus and featured 39 runners from six schools. The event also marked the first varsity athletic event ever hosted by USCB. The men's course record for the 8K is 24:05 set by Evans Kirwa from Embry-Riddle (Fla.) in 2012, and the women's record is 17:05 set by Emily Kearney from SCAD Atlanta set in 2017.

This year's event will begin and end at the Ridgeland-Hardeeville Middle School complex located at 150 Hurricane Alley, Hardeeville, SC 29927. The course, which played host to the 2008, 2010, 2013 and 2016 Sun Conference Championships, is flat and on grass and trails except for road crossings.

The men's 8K race will begin at 9:00 a.m. and the women's 5K race will begin at approximately 9:45 a.m.. For more information regarding the details of the event, click here.
