Lakeland, Fla.-- USCB had three runners earn Academic All-Conference accolades last night at The Sun Conference Cross Country Championships banquet dinner held on the campus of Southeastern University.
Carter Freeman,
Ciara McMahon and
Lauren Tregoning were named the recipients of the awards.
The teams then took to Holloway Park this morning to run the women's 5K and the men's 8K championship races. Both the women's and men's teams finished in 5th place overall. SCAD Savannah walked away with the team titles in both the women's and men's races.
Women's Highlights
- Jenitza Trinidad ran the lowest time for the women this season, coming across at 20:33. Trinidad's finishing time puts her in tenth place, historically, among Women's 5K Top Individuals at USCB. Check out the full list of XC records here.
- Setting personal bests for the women were Trinidad, Tregoning, Madison Mury Riley and Linnea Aberg
- With today's race, McMahon and Hannah Johnson wrap up their cross country careers at USCB. McMahon ran her career best, 22:11, at 12th Annual Sand Shark Invitational a couple of weeks ago.
- The fifth-place team finish is three spots higher than in last season's TSC championships.
Men's Highlights
- Freshmen Tedros Eckstein and Cameron Taylor led the way for the Sand Sharks with times of 28:10 and 28:27, finishing inside the top-15 for USCB.
- Eckstein earned 2nd Team All-Conference honors
- Justin Dolata ran down four opponents in the final 400 meters to finish inside the top-30
- The team finished three spots higher in the final TSC standings than they did a year ago
