Hardeeville, SC-- After several rain delays, postponements and cancellations, the USCB Sand Shark baseball team is ready to get back on the diamond when they travel to preseason No. 4 Southeastern University (Fla.) this weekend for a three-game series with the Fire. The Sand Sharks are coming off a difficult loss to fellow Sun Conference opponent, Keiser University (Fla.) last Friday at Richard Gray.
The Sand Sharks will look to senior Alex Murphy to continue to his strong hitting. Murphy is currently batting .438, hitting 7-16 and leading the team with 6 RBI's. Right behind Murphy is junior Kelvin Brito, who is 5-18 with 5 RBI's.
The Fire have two players with 19 hits-Nick Bottari and Manuel Mesa. Bottari and Mesa are currently batting .576 and .500, respectively. On the season, the Fire have outscored their opponents 86-31, 61 of those runs being scored in the first four innings, so it will be important for the Sand Sharks to find the strike zone early on Friday afternoon.
The current historical series between these two teams has SEU leading 16-15 and 9-6 in Lakeland.
The games this weekend will be broadcast live at https://portal.stretchinternet.com/southeastern/ along with live stats.
