Bluffton, SC-- The USCB baseball team will look to even their record this Wednesday when they host Paine College (GA) in a double-header beginning at 1 PM.
The Lions come into the game 0-2, having dropped games to Georgia College and North Greenville University this past weekend. The Lions are a young team this year, bringing 13 freshmen and 2 sophomores, all of which saw significant playing time this past weekend. The team only has four seniors on which to rely for experience, so it will be important for the Sand Sharks' bullpen to take advantage of that youth on the other side. The Lions' junior Brad Doebler will look to shoulder a lot of the offensive load for the team. Doebler hit .241 last season, recording 19 hits and 13 RBI's. It will be important for the Sand Sharks' defense to be vigilant should the Lions reach the bases though, as the team stole a total of 80 bases a year ago.
Coming off a hot hitting weekend, senior Alex Murphy will look to continue driving runs across the plate. Murphy recorded 4 RBI's against Milligan, followed closely by junior Kelvin Brito, who went 4-10 with 2 RBI's. Also swinging the stick well last weekend was Noah Matthews, who went 5-10 with 2 runs.
The double-header is set to begin at 1:00 pm at the Richard Gray Sports Complex this Wednesday. Free video streaming and live stats will be brought to you by the Sand Shark Club.
