HARDEEVILLE, S.C. - Tewodros Eckstein headlined the finishes for USCB men's and women's cross country, as the sophomore clocked a personal-best time en route to an 11th-place finish at the 13th annual Sand Shark Invitational on Saturday morning.
Men's Highlights
Eckstein nearly finished inside the top-10, as the sophomore placed 11th out of 139 runners. With his time of 26:40.2, Eckstein collected a career-best time at the annual meet.
Freshman Sam Williams had the second-fastest time for USCB on Saturday, as he finished in 62nd place. Williams' performance was the second-fastest mark this year for the freshman.
Like Williams, Justin Dolata also posted his second-fastest 8k time this year. The junior finished five spots behind Williams in 67th place.
Daniel Goodin, DuWayne Patriq Jones and Garrett Elkins finished behind one another at 114th, 115th and 116th, respectively. Jones collected a personal-best time at 33:51.9.
Carter Freeman, Elijah Merida and Nigel Davis rounded out the finishes for USCB on Saturday. Merida set a career-best time of 34:35.9.
Women's Highlights
Jenitiza Trinidad had the fastest time for USCB in the women's race. The sophomore clocked a career-best time of 20:17.9, as she shaved off nearly 16 seconds off her previous-best mark. Overall, Trinidad finished 36th out of 150 runners.
Bianca Ramos and Madison Mury Riley finished near each other at 81st and 84th place, respectively. Ramos posted a career-best time of 21:43.8, while Riley also collected a personal-best 21:50.2.
Gabby Ward and Courtney Sherry were four spots from one another. Ward and Sherry also posted career-best times at 22:35.5 and 23:00.4, respectively. Ward finished 96th, and Sherry placed 100th.
Katarina Schwebach, Sarahna Herndon and Jada Wilkins had the next three fastest times for USCB. The Sand Shark trio also collected personal-best times in the meet.
What's Next?
The next meet for USCB will be the Sun Conference Championships, which will take place on Saturday, Nov. 9 in Hardeeville.
