BLUFFTON, S.C. - For the 14th consecutive year, the USCB men's and women's cross country teams will host the Sand Shark Invitational on Saturday, Oct. 17. For the first time in the meet's history, it will be held on USCB's campus on the newly-designed, on-campus course.
Last Time Out - Ave Maria Invitational
Tewodros Eckstein continued his tear in 2020, as the junior earned another third-place finish at the Ave Maria Invitational. The Mount Pleasant, S.C. native ran a 26:27.5. He bested the fourth-place finisher by over 30 seconds and was just 16 seconds from moving into the top two.
Three other Sand Sharks finished inside the top 30 in Justin Dolata, Jay King and Sam Williams. Dolata had the second-best finish for USCB, as he collected a 28:32.6 en route to his 23rd-place finish. King finished in 25th with a time of 28:41.8, and William clocked a 29:01.5, as he finished in 30th place.
On the women's side, USCB had two runners place in the top 10 - Alexa Lashley and Jenitza Trinidad. Lashley collected her highest individual finish at the met, as she finished in seventh place with a mark of 20:23.7. She was just under a minute away from cracking the top 5. Trinidad finished in 10th place with a mark of 20:42.3.
Madison Mury Riley and Riley Edwards finished inside the top 20 for the Sand Sharks. Riley finished in 19th place, and Edwards finished in 20th.
About the 14th Annual Sand Shark Invitational
The Sand Shark Invitational is in its 14th year of existence. However, this will mark the first-ever year that it will be held on USCB's campus in Bluffton. The course is newly-designed, and the Sand Shark Invitational will mark the first-ever meet at the new course. This course will also serve as the site for the NAIA Southern States Showdown, which USCB is hosting on Saturday, Oct. 24.
For the Sand Shark Invitational, the men's race will be an 8k event, and it will commence at at 4:30 p.m. The women's 5k race will begin at 5:15 p.m. For the women's course map, click HERE, and for the men's course map, click HERE.

The Sand Sharks will host its second and final meet of the 2020 season on Saturday, Oct. 24, as they host the NAIA Southern States Challenge. The start times are the same as the Sand Shark Invitational - men's 8k race at 4:30 p.m. and the women's 5k race at 5:15 p.m.
