AVE MARIA, Fla. - To join six Sun Conference All-Academic honorees, USCB's cross country runners Tewodros Eckstein and Alexa Lashley earned prestigious All-Conference awards following the conclusion of the 2020 Sun Conference Championship meet on Saturday morning at Ave Maria.

Earning the first-ever men's Sun Conference cross country title, Eckstein was named the league's Runner of the Year. Eckstein ran a 26:32.5 in the 8k postseason event and bested the runner-up by over 12 seconds. 

In her first postseason meet of her career, Lashley garnered the TSC's Freshman of the Year award. Lashley had the highest finish out of all freshmen across the conference, as she placed ninth with a mark of 20:24.8. It was also the highest overall finish on the USCB women's cross country team.

As well as these prestigious awards, Jenitza Trinidad also joined Eckstein and Lashley on the All-Conference Awards. Eckstein was the only First Team member, while Lashley and Trinidad collected Second Team All-Conference recognition. 

On top of these awards, six individuals earned All-Academic awards following the conclusion of the 2020 Sun Conference Championship. On the men's side, Eckstein, Garrett Elkins and Carter Freeman were honored, and on the women's team, Sarahna Herndon, Katarina Schwebach and Madison Mury Riley were recognized. 

To be a member of the 2020 Sun Conference All-Academic team, the student-athlete must have been enrolled at USCB for at least two full semesters and have a cumulative grade-point average of 3.5 or higher.
