WINGATE, N.C. - To open the 2021 season, the USCB men's and women's cross country teams posted solid results at the Wingate Bulldog Stampede on Saturday morning in Wingate, N.C.
MEN'S RESULTS
Jacob Mitchell had the best overall finish for the Sand Sharks. The freshman finished 22nd overall with a 27:32.5 mark. He averaged 5:32.5 minutes per mile, as he was just 0.4 seconds away from moving into the top 20.Â
Preseason Sun Conference Runner to Watch Tewodros Eckstein placed 35th overall with a 28:56.7 time in the 8k race.Â
Finishing one spot behind his teammate, Jay King finished 36th overall with a 29:51.2 mark.Â
WOMEN'S RESULTS
Cydney Stevenson paced the Sand Shark duo that competed in the women's 6k event. The rookie distance runner clocked a 28:03.0 time in her first collegiate cross country meet.Â
Sarahna Herndon was the second USCB runner on the women's side, and she finished 40th overall with a mark of 30:39.3Â
WHAT'S NEXT?
The Sand Sharks will take 13 days off to rest and recover for the Queen City Invite on Sept. 24 in Charlotte, N.C.
