RESULTS
WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - To open the 2022-23 indoor season, the USCB men's and women's track and field teams competed a the Visit Winston-Salem College Kick-Off on Saturday at the JDL Fast Track. 
Field Highlights
The Sand Sharks competed in four field events. De'Andra Brown placed fifth in the women's triple jump with a distance of 10.34m, while Noah Bloese-Bueno finished ninth with a mark of 11.80m.
In the women's weight throw, Allayah Bryan and Sophia Stalford represented USCB, as they finished 21st and 25th - respectively. Bryan had a throw of 11.24m, and Stalford made a heave of 8.35m. 
Rounding out the marks in the field events was in the men's shot put. Zach Markow and Steven Nesbitt competed and made throws of 7.86m and 6.18m, respectively.
Track Highlights
Marcela Shartouny and LeeAisha Ford finished in the middle of the pack in the women's 60m. Shartouny finished 12th with a time of 8.54, and five spots back was Ford with a time of 8.65. 
Out of 29 runners, Michael Johnson finished 11th in the men's 60m. Johnson posted a time of 7.30.
The Sand Sharks had a lot of representation in the 200m, 400m, 600m and 800m. In fact, 22 Sand Sharks ran in those four distances. Jordan Hunter headlined those distances for USCB, as the rookie placed top-10 (ninth) in the men's 800m. He posted a time of 2:12.64 in his first track meet of the year. 
Aniah Wright had a strong outing in the women's 200m, as she finished in 23rd out of 46 runners. The Sand Shark posted a mark of 28.01. 
On the men's side of the 200m, Johnson finished 33rd with a time of 24.44. 
Jacob Mitchell had a respectable performance in the men's 3000m, as he finished 11th out of 21 runners. He collected a time of 9:02.86. He was just over three seconds away from moving into the top-10. 
What's Next?
USCB will stay in Winston-Salem for one more night, as it will compete in the JDL Early Bird Invitational on Dec. 4. The meet begins at 9:30 a.m.
