HARDEEVILLE, S.C. - After starting the year with a series loss at No. 9 Webber International, the USCB baseball team opened its home portion of the schedule with an offensive outburst, hitting three home runs en route to an 11-4 victory over Middle Georgia State Tuesday afternoon in Hardeeville.

How It Happened

Middle Georgia State plated the first run of the afternoon after Rafeal Gomez Jr hit a solo home run in the first inning. However, USCB scored three in the second behind the strength of a Miller solo blast and run-scoring singles from Hunter McKown and Carson Phillips. 

Tanner added to the Sand Shark lead the next inning, blasting a three-run shot to make it 6-1. 

Humphrey doubled home a run in the 4th and an RBI groundout in the 5th made it 8-1, USCB. 

The Knights would add two runs in the sixth. Again, the Sand Shark offensive stayed hot starting with a Czech single to center in the bottom half of the inning and Miller drilling his second homer of the game in the eighth to make it 11-3. 

MGA added one more run in the ninth, but Patterson closed out the first victory for USCB in 2023.

The Sand Sharks hit the road to face Francis Marion on Friday for a round robin tournament. USCB will play four total games against FMU and Catawba from Friday to Sunday in Florence, S.C.
