BLUFFTON, S.C. - With two weekly awards already under his belt - the Continental Athletic Conference and the Peach Belt - the weekly awards kept rolling in for sophomore left-hander Cam Dimidjian, as he was tabbed NAIA Ball's Pitcher of the Week as well as NCAA DII NCBWA (National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association) Southeast Region Pitcher of the Week.
Dimidjian easily headlined the weekend for USCB, if not the conference and nation, as the sophomore left-handed pitcher earned the Sand Sharks' first-ever perfect game and second-ever in Peach Belt Conference history. The Jefferson Hills, Pa. native went the distance against Claflin without allowing a runner to reach base. In the seven-inning outing, he saw out the 10-run win en route to striking out eight Panthers.
In 17.1 innings of work this year, Dimidjian has allowed just six hits, two runs, one walk and struck out 21 batters. He has allowed just two extra-base hits to go along with his glistening 1.04 ERA and 0.40 WHIP. He has limited batters to just a mere .102 batting average.
The Sand Sharks are fresh off a 13-12 win over Middle Georgia State, and they will turn their attention to a weekend Peach Belt Conference series beginning on Friday at 6 p.m. with USC Aiken. The set will be held in Hardeeville at Richard Gray Stadium.
