HARDEEVILLE, S.C. - Scott Matthews posted a strong, quality start in game two of the series on Saturday afternoon, but North Georgia posted four runs in the ninth inning to escape with a 5-3 win to even the series with USCB baseball at Richard Gray Stadium.

How it Happened
USCB cracked the scoreboard first following a single to left from Tanner.
The Nighthawks tied it up the next inning after the Sand Sharks traded the run with a doubleplay.Â
Tanner struck again in the fourth, collecting his second RBI base knock.
North Georgia put runners in scoring position but after a failed bunt attempt, Matthews got the Nighthawks next two batters out, ending the threat.Â
With a 2-1 lead, Josh Patterson came out of the bullpen after starting as the DH and worked an inning and two thirds of work, but he walked the bases loaded. Donaldson entered and quickly got ahead of Riley Frost, but the Nighthawk shortstop singled up the middle, tying the game at two. Tim Conway followed with a two RBI double, give UNG its first lead of the day, 5-2.Â
Phillips made it a two-run game with a RBI base knock, but North Georgia struck out Mack Cromer to finish off the game.
