BLUFFTON — For the first time in over six years, the USCB Men's and Women's Cross Country program will be led by someone who neither was a student-athlete or a previous staff member hired by legendary Sand Shark coach, Larry Kimball.
Terica Harris, a Savannah native was hired back in July after completing her graduate degree from Southeastern University. The Sun Conference connection is as far as it goes as she aims to bring new life into Beaufort's longest tenured athletic program.
"I have a great group of athletes who are dedicated," said Harris. "Not only on the track but in the weight room as well; who are looking to be well-rounded athletes."
The Sand Sharks return four runners on the men's side and welcome a plethora of new faces on the women's team.
Seniors Jay King and Travis Patton along with juniors Jacob Mitchell and Eli Smith solidify the men's roster and will be joined by freshman Richie Morris.
On the women's roster, upperclassman Cydney Stevenson and Aniah Wright will help guide freshman Taylor Atkinson and Sofia Mejia. LeeAisha Ford, who specifically ran track and field last season comes on and will make an impact this season.
"My expectations are to help the team reach their goals for this season; completing all of their races and setting personal records. I'm just excited to building the foundation and the culture of this program."
