Harris announces 2024 Cross Country slate

BLUFFTON -- Following a strong offseason of recruiting and a solid first year at the helm of USCB's cross country program, head coach Terica Harris has announced the 2024 schedule.

"We're thrilled about the upcoming Cross Country season," said Harris. "Our coaching staff has carefully crafted this schedule considering various factors, including last year's performances, new incoming athletes, and what we believe will best prepare our athletes for success at the conference."

The season begins Sept. 6 at the 39th Annual Eye Opener XC Classic in Spartanburg, hosted by USC Upstate. The following week both squads travel to McAlpine Creek Park in Charlotte to compete in the Queen City Invite. The Sand Sharks return home for a dual meet with Savannah State on the Bluffton campus on Wednesday Sept. 18 before wrapping up the month of September at the Akiah McMillan Invite hosted by Columbia College on the Sept. 28.

Following a one-year absence, USCB is bringing back the Sand Shark Invitational for its 17th installment on Saturday Oct. 12. The course begins and finishes at the Hardeeville School Complex while traversing through Sergeant Jasper Park and the Cooler Property. The course is flat and on grass and trails except for road crossings.

"We're also excited to announce the return of our home meet, the Sand Shark Invitational. We are eagerly anticipating hosting numerous schools and foresee significant growth not only for our home meet but also for our program in the years ahead."

Beaufort will then have two weeks to prepare for the Peach Belt Conference Championships which will again be held in Oakwood, Georgia at the University of North Georgia Gainesville Campus. Last season the Sand Sharks finished eighth and ninth respectfully at the PBC Championships.
