BLUFFTON, S.C. – The University of South Carolina Beaufort Department of Athletics is pleased to announce the hiring of Andrew Santangelo as its new Director of Athletics Communications. Santangelo joins the Sand Shark family after serving as Assistant Athletic Director for Communications at Northwestern Oklahoma State University (NWOSU) since 2021.

At NWOSU, Santangelo was the primary communications contact for all 13 NCAA Ranger athletic programs plus men's and women's rodeo, managing media relations, statistics, game day operations, and social media strategy. He wrote and published hundreds of press releases, coordinated home and away game coverage, and developed marketing campaigns that increased engagement and brand visibility. Under his leadership, NWOSU saw growth across all official social media platforms, thanks to creative video content, dynamic graphics, and consistent storytelling.

Santangelo also oversaw ticketing operations, managed graduate assistants and a team of 10–15 student workers, and served as the lead statistician for numerous sports, including football, basketball, baseball, softball, and volleyball. His work fostered strong relationships with local and regional media, coaches, and student-athletes while ensuring comprehensive coverage of all NWOSU teams.

In addition to his collegiate experience, Santangelo is a contributing writer for That Ball's Outta Here, a FanSided network site dedicated to the Philadelphia Phillies organization, where he produces weekly feature content. He also brings experience from STATS LLC, where he managed live game-day data for NCAA Division I football.

A native of Pennsylvania, Santangelo earned his bachelor's degree in Sports Management from Oklahoma State University and his master's degree in Sports Administration from Northwestern Oklahoma State University. His skill set spans event management, radio broadcasting, media production, digital marketing, and statistical analysis, with proficiency in Adobe Photoshop, InDesign, ScoreShots, PrestoSports, and NCAA LiveStats.
