CONWAY, SOUTH CAROLINA – The University of South Carolina Beaufort (USCB) women's cross country team competed in the Chanticleer Challenge on Friday, hosted by NCAA Division I Coastal Carolina University.
Freshman Grace Napoli led the Sand Sharks, finishing 55th overall with a time of 22:19.93 in her first collegiate 5K. Napoli made her 5K debut after competing in the 4K at last week's Bruins XC Night Classic.
Close behind was Avrie Farrington, who clocked a time of 22:45.91 in her first collegiate 5K, finishing as the second runner for USCB placing 58th overall in the meet.
Chandler Riley was the third Sand Shark to cross the line, placing 60th overall with a time of 23:18.87, also in her 5K debut.
Rounding out the lineup for USCB was Sofia Mejia, who placed 62nd overall, with her time of 23:32.79.
The Sand Sharks return to action next week at the Bobcat Invitational, hosted by Georgia College in Milledgeville, Georgia, on Friday, September 26th, for their third meet of the season.
