GREENVILLE, SOUTH CAROLINA – The University of South Carolina Beaufort men's cross country team opened its 2025 season at the Bruins XC Night Classic, hosted by Bob Jones University in Greenville, South Carolina.
The Sand Sharks finished 11th overall in the meet held Friday evening for the season opening 6K.
Benton Cantrell led the Sand Sharks, finishing in 47th place with a time of 21:22.0 in his season debut. He averaged a 5:43.8 mile pace.
Braxton Talley was the second finisher for USCB, placing 51st overall with a final time of 21:30.9 averaging a 5:46.2 on his mile.
Sophomore Beckett Jones and teammate Ryan Kurz were the next two point scorers for the Sand Sharks. Jones recorded a time of 22:24.7 to finish 73rd, while Kurz placed 76th with a time of 22:39.5.
Freshman Rickson Figueroa rounded out the team's five, placing 87th overall with a time of 23:17.7 in his first meet.

The Sand Sharks will have a week off before traveling to Conway, South Carolina, for the Chanticleer Challenge, hosted by Coastal Carolina on Friday, September 19.
